Meeting Today’s Needs

Meet the SistersUrsulines are proud of their rich history and heritage, committed to the challenges of the present, and hopeful about building the future. Engaging society through service and faithful to their mission in the church, Ursulines collaborate with like-minded men and women to extend the ministry of Jesus in our times.

Education has been the hallmark of Ursuline ministries. At the same time, contemporary social conditions call for service directed to unmet social needs. Ursulines have responded in the spirit of St. Angela according to current circumstances. In particular, Ursulines strive to fulfill the commitment of St. Angela to peace and reconciliation among peoples in a multicultural society.

In response to the changing needs of the times, Ursulines have broadened their ministry to include parish work, chaplaincy, counseling, spiritual direction and the arts. They also serve in law, health and hospice care, and service to the aged, homeless and persons with AIDS. As members of the Roman Union, a branch of the worldwide family of St. Angela Merici, Ursulines serve on six continents.
